Fastkill: Nuclear thrashing attack

If there is one thing the Japanese like other than weird-ass animes is metal. And recently, as in the rest of the world, there has been an 80’s metal revival over there. Proof of that is thrash metal maniacs Fastkill, now releasing their sophomore album, “Nuclear Thrashing Attack”. Now Fastkill is an appropriate name as they come. They play fucking fast. Like, desperately fast. Insanely fast. Batshit crazy fast. And that makes it all the more enjoyable, it sure is fun listening to these fellas try to break the sound barrier.
While their influences are deeply rooted in Exodus, Anthrax, Exumer, Dark Angel and all that good shit that came out of the eighties, Fastkill do have their own vibe throughout, that’s for sure. Maybe that’s particularly true because of vocalist Komori Toshio, who has such a fucking high shriek, it’s hilarious. The irony of it is it actually sounds really cool with the music. “Bloodbath”, “Kill and Possess”, “Annihilation Betrayer”, all extremely fast songs to bang your head to until your neck breaks. All under the 3 minute mark, the entire album clocks in a little under 30 minutes. Talk about short and to the point.
True, this album is not as consistent as their debut, but its still on the same level headbanging wise, and that sure does count. A great soundtrack for a party where everyone is wearing jean shorts.
